Sunil Narine back in West Indies ODI squad

first_imgJason Mohammed has been recalled four years after he made his debut while Test batsman Jermaine Blackwood is poised for his first one-day appearance in a 15-man West Indies squad to contest the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series in Sri Lanka starting on October.Off-spinner Sunil Narine, who had pulled out of the World Cup squad to continue work on his action, has returned as part of eight changes to the side which reached the quarter-finals of the ICC World Cup in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year, reports CMC.As expected, no room has been found for the Trinidadian duo of Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard through they have been included in the 15-man Twenty20 squad, also announced on Tuesday.Their exclusion from the ODI squad prompted claims of “outside interference” in the selection process from head coach Phil Simmons and led to his suspension on Monday.Mohammed, meanwhile, has been handed a chance to revive his international career at age 29.The right-hander shone in the Super50 Championship earlier this year, averaging 50 runs per innings and stroking an unbeaten century in the final, as Red Force beat Guyana Jaguars.Blackwood, 23, has played 10 Tests where he averages 41 but has been given the opportunity to transfer his attacking batting into the shorter format. Narine’s re-inclusion, one 13 months after he played his last game for the West Indies, is a huge filip for the regional side. The right-armer’s action has come under heavy international scrutiny and after being called during last year’s Champions League Twenty20, he opted not to travel to the World Cup.advertisementMeanwhile, several other familiar faces have returned to the squad. Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, who recently made his Test comeback, has been included four years since playing his last ODI while batsman Andre Fletcher is back after last suiting up in 2010.Pacer Ravi Rampaul is also back, having not played since October last year. Test captain Jason Holder also leads the one-day side. All-rounder Darren Sammy, left out of the one-day squad, will take charge of the Twenty20 unit which also includes leg-spinner Samuel Badree. The West Indies will be play the first two ODIs in Colombo on October 31 and November 4 before closing out with the final game in Pallekele on November 7The two T20s are scheduled for November 10 Pallekele and November 12 in Colombo. The squads:ODI – Jason Holder (captain), Devendra Bishoo, Jermaine Blackwood, Carlos Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Jonathan Carter, Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher, Jason Mohammed, Sunil Narine, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Jerome TaylorT20I – Darren Sammy (captain), Samuel Badree, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Jonathan Carter, Johnson Charles, Andre Fletcher, Jason Holder, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin, Ravi Rampaul, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor.last_img read more

Chrome can now be launched in Googles Daydream Vi

first_imgChrome can now be launched in Google’s Daydream ViewGoogle has introduced the ability to launch Chrome in virtual reality on Daydream, Google’s virtual reality platform built into Android. Those using Google Daydream View or the Lenovo Mirage Solo with Daydream with will now be able to launch Chrome from the homepage and browse any web page while in VR.The company has added a few Daydream-specific features such as cinema mode, which optimizes web video for VR.Apache Log4j 2.11.1 now availableApache Log4j 2.11.1, the popular framework for logging application behavior, has been released, providing significant improvements over the previous release. It adds new modern features, including “support for Markers, lambda expressions for lazy logging, property substitution using Lookups, multiple patterns on a PatternLayout and asynchronous Loggers.”It also removes the need to allocate temporary objects while logging. OpenAI has trained a human-like robot hand to manipulate physical objects using a system called Dactyl. The system was trained completely in a simulation and adapts to real-world physics. According to OpenAI, Dactyl leared from scratch using the same reinforcement learning algorithm as OpenAI Five. The results of this project demonstrate that it is possible to train agents in a simulation and have them solve real-world problems without having to provide an accurate model of the world, OpenAI explained.“This project completes a full cycle of AI development that OpenAI has been pursuing for the past two years: we’ve developed a new learning algorithm, scaled it massively to solve hard simulated tasks, and then applied the resulting system to the real world. Repeating this cycle at increasing scale is the primary route we are pursuing to increase the capabilities of today’s AI systems towards safe artificial general intelligence,” the team wrote in a post.Git LFS 2.5.0 now availableGit LFS, an open-source Git extension that is used for versioning large files, has released a new version, 2.5.0.The latest version includes three new migration modes as well as updated scripts and programs that are used to develop on Git LFS. These new scripts and programs are designed to feel more familiar to open source contributors.last_img read more
