Land Rover stopping copycats by cutting out concepts

first_img Concep vehicles implement new design language and ideology of an automaker, so it’s easy to see why Land Rover is secretive about theirs. More often than not, LandWind would copy a design and rush it to market to beat the competition. The Range Rover Velar is another example, having been revealed in production-ready form earlier this year. Copycats are never fun to deal with.Over the years, Land Rover has learned this the hard way – by being copied by Chinese manufacturer LandWind. After all, the X7 bears a very close resemblance to the Range Rover Evoque. But Land Rover has a solution – no more concepts. Per Auto Express, Land Rover design boss Gerry McGovern is so cautious about new concept designs being shown too early and eventually stolen by LandWind, that the British automaker hasn’t shown a concept since the Discovery Vision in 2014. ‹ Previous Next › RELATED TAGSLand RoverLuxury CarsLuxury VehiclesNew VehiclesAutomobile ManufacturingCars and Car DesignConcept CarsConsumer CyclicalsConsumer Products and ServicesCulture and LifestyleGerry McGovernIndustriesLand Rover Group Ltd.Land Rover Range RoverManufacturing SectorMotor Vehicle ManufacturingRange Rover EvoqueSUVs and Crossovers Trending Videos PlayThe Rolls-Royce Boat Tail may be the most expensive new car everPlay3 common new car problems (and how to prevent them) | Maintenance Advice | Driving.caPlayFinal 5 Minivan Contenders | Driving.caPlay2021 Volvo XC90 Recharge | Ministry of Interior Affairs | Driving.caPlayThe 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is a new take on Canada’s fave truck | Driving.caPlayBuying a used Toyota Tundra?
