Slain CRPF jawans wives outrightly refuse to join BJP rally in Bengal

first_imgKolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s allegation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP are doing politics over the killing of 40 CRPF jawans in Pulwama has come true again. As the leaders of the BJP’s Mahila Morcha made futile attempts to rope in the spouses of the two jawans who hailed from Bengal to take part in the International Women’s Day rally which was organised by the party, they faced outright rejection and denial.CRPF jawans Bablu Santra of 35 Battalion and Sudip Biswas of 98 Battalion had been killed in the Pulwama incident on February 14. Santra hailed from Bauria in Howrah while Biswas was a resident of Hanspukuria in Nadia. The BJP Mahila Morcha organised a programme at the state headquarters on Murali Dhar Sen Lane where the party leaders paid tribute to the slain jawans. After the function was over, the leaders forced the spouses of the jawans to take part in the International Women’s Day rally. The BJP leaders received a major shock when they refused to take part. Initially, they were told that they would have to take part in a function where the party would pay homage to the jawans. Believing their statements to be true, the family members had come for the function. But later, they were surprised to learn that they had to take part in the rally that would start from the party office and end in Shyambazar.last_img
